This is a terrible poem, written in about five minutes. I was just trying to write something from my son’s perspective. Although I’ve written a few cool poems, poetry is just not my thing. It doesn’t flow from me easily, and when it does, you can see the results aren’t great. However, I do feel that I captured my teenage son pretty well which was the main goal.
The Blame Game
I don’t understand
Why you blame me for everything.
I don’t understand
Why it so hard for you to see.
I don’t understand
Why it’s always my fault.
I don’t understand
Why you make me take the fall.
I don’t understand
Why you can’t see what I’m going through.
I don’t understand
Why it’s always one against two.
I don’t understand
Why you think you’re always right.
I don’t understand
Why you want to make us fight.
I don’t understand
Why you insist on pushing me away.
YOU don’t understand
That I’m going to be gone someday.
